A 4-week project that included:
Masonry - Painting - Staining
This project began due to the foundation forming cracks from improper grading. Which caused flooding into the basement. (This is reflected in the piles of dirt on the floor.)
After the flooding John & Diane Kennedy decided they wanted to repaint the walls/floor and refinish their basement stairs. That's where Berkey's comes in.
I first filled in the cracks with hydraulic cement & repainted with Killz & Drylok Paints. Once those dried I cleaned the floor with water and bleach to prepare for painting. The Kennedy's opted for a nice dark grey.
Once the painting was all finished I moved onto the sanding and staining of the steps. This was a two day process. Day 1 consisted of sanding and the initial two coats of staining. Day 2 was 2-coats of clear oil based polyurethane.
To finish out this project we did what every good job needs... A good clean-up. For a spotless basement that was cleaner and more stylish than when we arrived.
